How to Find Opinan

Opinan is situated on the coast between Ullapool and Gairloch near Greenstone Point.
We are close to the world famous Inverewe Gardens and a few minutes walk from the popular sandy beach at Mellon Udrigle.

Directions from Inverness Leave INVERNESS on the A9 as if heading for Wick and cross the Kessock Bridge. Follow the A9 as far as the first roundabout and then take the second exit, the A835 towards Ullapool. Follow this road as far as BRAEMORE JUNCTION where you turn left onto the A832. Continue until you reach LAIDE. NB: Our Opinan is too small to appear on a lot of maps but there is another Opinan just to the South of Gairloch which does often appear so please do not confuse the two!

Turn right by LAIDE Post Office and Filling Station and follow the single track road to Mellon Udrigle. At the bottom of the hill as you come in to Mellon Udrigle turn left by the red post box follow the road for about half a mile until you see some houses, Mallies Cottage is on the left, our house is the third one on the right just over the brow of a small hill.

As you come down the hill into Mellon Udrigle enjoy the fantastic view out to the Summer Isles, at the bottom of the hill turn left at the small red post box. The red telephone box has gone!
